Summary: Provides an overview of the mechanism and its functionality.
Documentation:
Transcriptional factor betI (Betaine inhibitor) is a part of the TetR/AcR family of transcriptional regulators, acting as a repressor of glycine betaine synthesis from choline. BetI repressor protein remains bound to DNA during induction. Exposed to choline, betI forms a complex with DNA binding to a 20-bp-long sequence over betTp and betIp (Santos-Zavaleta, 2019).
